Description

The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) invites tenders for emergency repairs on the R531 Section 2, located between Acornhoek and Welverdiend. The project involves the demolition and replacement of a damaged steel ribbed pipe culvert at km 6.9 with a new 44m long concrete box culvert, and the repair of a sinkhole at km 11.4. The scope includes road pavement reconstruction, drainage works, and the establishment of a 17km detour route. The project duration is approximately 12 months, including a 3-month mobilization period. Key deliverables include the completion of the minor culvert at km 11.4 within four months of site access. Bidders must appoint qualified key personnel, including a Construction Manager and a Health and Safety Officer. A minimum of 30% of the contract value must be subcontracted to Targeted Enterprises.

What you need to qualify

• CSD registration — Registration on the Central Supplier Database — required to do business with government.
• Tax clearance — A valid SARS tax compliance status (PIN) showing your tax affairs are in order.
• CIDB grading (Grade 7 Civil Engineering (7CE)) — A Construction Industry Development Board grade in the right class of works.
• Letter of Good Standing — COID registration and a Letter of Good Standing from the Compensation Fund.
• Other registration — An industry registration the tender requires (e.g. PSIRA, NHBRC, a professional or trade licence).

Full requirements

• Valid CIDB grading of 7 CE or higher
• Registered on the National Treasury Central Supplier Database (CSD)
• Valid Tax Compliance Status (TCS) PIN
• Valid Letter of Good Standing (COIDA)
• Registered with the Bargaining Council for the Civil Engineering Industry (BCCEI)
• Key personnel must hold ECSA or SACPCMP professional registration
• Compliance with local content thresholds for steel, plastic, textiles, and cement
• Must provide bank letter confirming sufficient cash flow capacity
