The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) invites proposals for the appointment of a panel of service providers to perform the maintenance, supply, delivery, and servicing of fiber-optic materials in the KwaZulu-Natal region. This contract will operate on an 'as and when' required basis for a duration of 36 months. Key deliverables include the repair of fiber-optic cable faults, fusion splicing, termination, testing, and the maintenance of distribution equipment. Service providers must also handle excavation and reinstatement of underground cable routes and provide detailed repair reports. Work must generally commence within 14 days of receiving a purchase order. The project requires technical expertise in fiber-optic systems, with a minimum technical threshold of 70% for evaluation. All work is subject to PRASA securing the necessary budget allocation.
What you need to qualify
- CSD registration — Registration on the Central Supplier Database — required to do business with government.
- Tax clearance — A valid SARS tax compliance status (PIN) showing your tax affairs are in order.
- CIDB grading (Grade 3 Civil Engineering (3CE)) — A Construction Industry Development Board grade in the right class of works.
- Letter of Good Standing — COID registration and a Letter of Good Standing from the Compensation Fund.
- Other registration — An industry registration the tender requires (e.g. PSIRA, NHBRC, a professional or trade licence).

- Must have valid Tax Compliance Status (TCS) PIN
- Minimum CIDB contractor grading of 3CE or higher
- Must provide valid Letter of Good Standing (COIDA)
- Must hold SAQA-accredited fiber optic technician qualifications
