Eskom is seeking Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of residential and school-based Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Projects include installations at Phandulwazi Agricultural High School, Freemantle Boy’s High School, and Mqikela Senior Secondary School. Key deliverables include structural assessments, inverter room preparation, electrical infrastructure installation, grid integration, and 12-month maintenance. Contractors must ensure all work complies with SANS/IEC standards, including SANS 10142-1 and NRS 097-2-1. Projects require adherence to Eskom’s quality management specifications (ISO 9001) and safety protocols. Successful bidders must provide as-built drawings, training, and performance warranties. The scope covers the full project lifecycle from feasibility to handover.
What you need to qualify
- CIDB grading — A Construction Industry Development Board grade in the right class of works.
- Letter of Good Standing — COID registration and a Letter of Good Standing from the Compensation Fund.
- Other registration — An industry registration the tender requires (e.g. PSIRA, NHBRC, a professional or trade licence).

- Valid ISO 9001 certification
- SAPVIA PV GreenCard accreditation
- DoEL registration as an Electrical Contractor
- ECSA registration (Pr. Eng / Pr. Tech. Eng) for design sign-off
- Valid COID Letter of Good Standing
- Valid CIDB registration
- PSIRA Grade D registration for security personnel
- PV modules, inverters, and batteries must meet SANS/IEC/NRS standards
