The National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) invites contractors to provide hazardous waste management services for its facilities in Pretoria and Cape Town. This three-year contract involves the classification, collection, transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste in line with national environmental regulations. Key deliverables include waste classification reports, disposal certificates, waste tracking manifests, and quarterly performance reporting. The service provider must also manage the recycling of materials like paper, plastic, and e-waste, providing monetary rebates to NMISA. Additionally, the contractor will handle the transport of furniture and equipment designated for donation. The work will be performed at the CSIR Scientia Campuses in both Pretoria and Cape Town. Bidders must demonstrate expertise in hazardous waste handling and possess the capacity to operate in both regions.
What you need to qualify
- B-BBEE certificate — A B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit confirming your contribution level.
- Letter of Good Standing — COID registration and a Letter of Good Standing from the Compensation Fund.
- UIF registration — Registration with the Unemployment Insurance Fund.
- Other registration — An industry registration the tender requires (e.g. PSIRA, NHBRC, a professional or trade licence).

- Valid hazardous waste collection and transport permit
- Registered with Gauteng and Western Cape Waste Information Systems
- Documented access to licensed waste disposal facilities
- Valid COIDA and UIF registration
- Valid driver licenses and PrDP for hazardous material transport
- Valid hazardous goods transport permits for all vehicles
- Valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit
