The Council on Higher Education (CHE) invites service providers to tender for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of electrical systems, including generators, inverters, and solar infrastructure. The project involves maintaining specific equipment such as solar panels, batteries, and monitoring systems, with a requirement for future off-grid configuration capabilities. The contract duration is three years. Key deliverables include regular maintenance services and the provision of a Certificate of Compliance (COC) upon completion of works. Bidders must demonstrate technical expertise through qualified personnel and achieve a minimum functionality score of 70 points based on reference letters, staff qualifications, and insurance coverage.
What you need to qualify
- Registered company — An active CIPC-registered company in good standing.
- Tax clearance — A valid SARS tax compliance status (PIN) showing your tax affairs are in order.
- B-BBEE certificate — A B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit confirming your contribution level.
- Letter of Good Standing — COID registration and a Letter of Good Standing from the Compensation Fund.
- Other registration — An industry registration the tender requires (e.g. PSIRA, NHBRC, a professional or trade licence).

- Valid Tax Compliance Status (PIN)
- Valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit
- Valid CIPC registration and certified Director IDs
- Valid COIDA Letter of Good Standing
- SAPVIA PV Green Card accreditation
- Public Liability Insurance of at least R1 million
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Valid Wireman’s License (IE or IME)
- Proof of Diesel Mechanic trade test certificate
