Onderstepoort Biological Products (OBP) invites proposals for a Principal Engineer to manage the upgrade of a vaccine facility to meet Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. The project is located at 100 Old Soutpan Road, Onderstepoort, Pretoria. The successful bidder will lead four phases of work, including site assessment, engineering design, construction supervision, and final commissioning sign-off. Key deliverables include a gap analysis report, detailed design packages, technical specifications for procurement, monthly progress reports, and final engineering certification. The project requires a multidisciplinary team of 16 specialists to ensure regulatory compliance and facility readiness. The closing date for this tender is 04 November 2026 at 13:00. A compulsory briefing session will be held on 20 October 2026 at the project site, where attendees must wear appropriate construction safety gear.

What you need to qualify

• CSD registration — Registration on the Central Supplier Database — required to do business with government.
• Tax clearance — A valid SARS tax compliance status (PIN) showing your tax affairs are in order.
• Letter of Good Standing — COID registration and a Letter of Good Standing from the Compensation Fund.
• Other registration — An industry registration the tender requires (e.g. PSIRA, NHBRC, a professional or trade licence).

Full requirements

• Must be registered on CSD with valid tax compliance status
• Must provide audited financial statements not older than 24 months
• Must provide three references for completed GMP-related projects
• Must hold a valid COID Letter of Good Standing
• Specialist roles must hold valid ECSA, SACAP, SACQSP, or SACNASP registration
