Description

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) and the Marine Living Resources Fund (MLRF) are seeking a service provider to manage a fleet of six vessels for five years. The fleet includes four fisheries protection vessels and two research vessels based in Cape Town. The successful bidder will be responsible for manning the vessels with qualified crew, managing 24/7 sailing operations, and ensuring all maintenance meets manufacturer and safety standards. Additional duties include procurement for repairs, vessel security, and providing supplies such as food and water. The project requires coordination with scientists and fishery officers to support research and protection patrols. Bidders must demonstrate experience in managing large vessels over 30 meters and provide qualified technical personnel, including a Designated Person Ashore and experienced engineers. The contract involves managing vessel movements and maintenance schedules to ensure operational readiness for up to 180 sea days per year per vessel.

  • Valid Tax Compliance Status PIN
  • Valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit
  • Valid Document of Compliance (DOC) from Flag State Authority
  • Valid International Safety Management (ISM) or SMS reports
  • STCW compliance and planned maintenance reports
  • Proven financial capacity for working capital or debt access
  • Documented vessel management experience
  • Key personnel with DPA and BTech Engineering qualifications
