The Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) is seeking a service provider to conduct a research project focused on identifying early-flag indicators in screening audiometry to prevent occupational noise-induced hearing loss in the South African mining industry. The work involves reviewing literature, defining indicator thresholds, evaluating noise control practices across various mine types, and developing an implementation framework. The project will take place over 18 months and includes conducting a hybrid workshop in Gauteng. Key deliverables include comprehensive research reports, an implementation guidance document, and a final project report. Bidders must demonstrate at least five years of research experience and provide a team of experts, including an occupational hygienist, an occupational medical practitioner, and an audiologist, each with a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
