Description

The Land and Agricultural Development Bank of South Africa is seeking an external carbon accounting specialist. The successful bidder will review the bank's greenhouse gas methodology and support the establishment of the 2026/27 baseline. Key tasks include ensuring alignment with international standards like the GHG Protocol and PCAF, specifically focusing on agricultural lending portfolios. The specialist will provide technical advice on emission factors, estimate operational and financed emissions, and develop an implementation plan for future data accuracy. The project is expected to be completed within three months of appointment. Deliverables include a methodology review, technical notes on financed emissions, and a final baseline presentation. This work is essential for the bank's climate governance and reporting requirements.

What you need to qualify

  • CSD registration — Registration on the Central Supplier Database — required to do business with government.
  • Tax clearance — A valid SARS tax compliance status (PIN) showing your tax affairs are in order.
  • B-BBEE certificate — A B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit confirming your contribution level.

Full requirements

  • Minimum 4-6 years technical experience in GHG accounting
  • Expertise in agricultural emission factors and PCAF standards
  • Experience with IFRS S2, TCFD, or CDP climate reporting frameworks
  • Team Lead must hold a relevant degree (NQF Level 7 or above)
  • Three contactable references, including one from a financial institution
  • Valid CSD registration and SARS Tax Compliance Status
  • Valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit
  • FICA compliance documentation
