The South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) is seeking a service provider for the maintenance and repair of three standby generators located in Cape Town and Sutherland. The contract will run for 36 months. The work includes routine inspections, preventative maintenance, emergency 24/7 breakdown support, and load bank testing. The provider must use genuine OEM parts and submit detailed service reports for all work performed. The project covers one generator in Cape Town and two in the Northern Cape. Bidders must demonstrate relevant experience through three written reference letters from the past three years and employ qualified staff with Red Seal trade test certificates.

- CIDB grading (Grade 2 Electrical Engineering (Building) (2EB)) — A Construction Industry Development Board grade in the right class of works.
- Letter of Good Standing — COID registration and a Letter of Good Standing from the Compensation Fund.
- Other registration — An industry registration the tender requires (e.g. PSIRA, NHBRC, a professional or trade licence).
