South African National Parks (SANParks) is inviting proposals for a 25-year Public Private Partnership (PPP) for the Lwakahle Concession Area in the Kruger National Park. The project involves the financing, refurbishment, operation, and maintenance of the existing Lukimbi Safari Lodge and its associated infrastructure, including 15,000 hectares of land and 100km of roads. The successful bidder must manage guest facilities, staff housing, and tourism activities while adhering to strict environmental and B-BBEE transformation standards. Key deliverables include maintaining high-quality lodge operations, implementing a 10% free-carry equity interest for local communities, and ensuring compliance with the National Building Code and responsible tourism standards. The concession requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in luxury lodge operations within protected areas. The bid submission deadline is 5 October 2026.

Full requirements
- Must hold relevant CATHSETA, DFFE, liquor, water, and environmental licenses.
- Must provide audited financial statements for three years.
- Must demonstrate a minimum Net Asset Value of R10 million.
- Must be registered on the Central Supplier Database (CSD).
- Must form a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the project.
- Must hold a minimum B-BBEE Level 4 contributor status.
- Must provide a bid bond of R500,000.
- Must have at least 5 years of luxury lodge operational experience.
- Must appoint an independent Environmental Control Officer.
- Must have valid insurance coverage.
