- CIDB grading (Grade 7 Electrical Engineering (Infrastructure) (7EP)) — A Construction Industry Development Board grade in the right class of works.
- Letter of Good Standing — COID registration and a Letter of Good Standing from the Compensation Fund.
- Other registration — An industry registration the tender requires (e.g. PSIRA, NHBRC, a professional or trade licence).

- Active CIDB contractor grading of 7EP or higher
- Valid SARS Tax Compliance Status or CSD registration
- Valid COIDA Letter of Good Standing
- Design engineers must hold ECSA professional registration
- Must hold relevant SANS, UL, and NEMA safety certifications
- Must hold Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance
- Must meet 50% CPG and 10% local EME/QSE subcontracting targets
