The East London Industrial Development Zone (ELIDZ) Science and Technology Park is seeking proposals for the beneficiation of hemp and cannabis through biotechnology. This project aims to support enterprises in the Eastern Cape that develop processes to convert biomass into biofuels, such as bioethanol and biogas, or bio-materials like bioplastics and textiles. The goal is to advance prototype development for products that have already reached a Technology Readiness Level of 4 or higher. Interested parties must submit a project concept note detailing their technology, target markets, and development milestones. This initiative focuses on innovation and intellectual property creation rather than immediate business operations. The deadline for submissions is 18 September 2026.
