Description

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) invites tenders for the sand management and maintenance at Simons Town. This project is required on an 'as and when' basis for a period of 24 months. The work involves the supply, installation, and maintenance of sand trap nets along the beachfront to prevent sand encroachment onto the rail reserve. Additionally, the contractor must provide earth-moving equipment for sand removal, backfilling, and leveling. Key deliverables include the development of a Maintenance Management Plan (MMP), topographical surveys, and the provision of professional services by a Dune/Coastal Rehabilitation Specialist. The project requires strict adherence to railway safety protocols, as work will occur near active rail lines and high-voltage electrical equipment. Bidders must ensure all work minimizes disruption to train services and complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The project is a re-measurement contract where all quantities are provisional.
