Description

Transnet Freight Rail is seeking contractors for the repair of the Blinkklip 3kV DC Traction Substation and the supply, installation, and commissioning of electrical equipment for 3kV DC traction substations. The scope includes installing high-voltage outdoor yard equipment, indoor rectifier equipment, control panels, and distribution boards. Work involves structural steelwork, fencing, earthing, cabling, and trenching. The project requires adherence to strict technical specifications, including moisture content thresholds for transformer oil dry-outs and compliance with SANS and IEC standards. Contractors must provide detailed design drawings, maintenance manuals, and training for Transnet staff. The work will take place at the Blinkklip site (GPS: 28:15:9.74, 23:13:59.92). The guarantee period for the work is 12 months from the date of successful handover.
