Transnet is seeking a private sector partner for the Richards Bay Dry Bulk Terminal (RBDBT) to redevelop, finance, design, construct, operate, and maintain the terminal. The goal is to modernize and expand the terminal's capacity from 18.5 to 26.9 Mtpa, focusing on chrome and magnetite exports. Key dates include a briefing on March 19, 2026, and a closing date of August 31, 2026.

- Tax clearance — A valid SARS tax compliance status (PIN) showing your tax affairs are in order.
Full requirements
- Valid Tax Clearance Certificate/PIN/CSD number required before bidding.
- Must be registered on National Treasury’s Central Supplier Database (CSD).
- Experience in project-financed transaction in the Economic Infrastructure sector.
- Operate logistics asset generating > ZAR 400 million annual revenue (last 3 years).
- Letter of Interest from Financier willing to finance at least ZAR 5.2 Billion.
- Operate a dry-bulk terminal handling ≥ 10 Mtpa for the last 5 years.
- Experience operating an organization employing > 100 employees (last 3 years).
- Implemented and funded at least two CSI initiatives (minimum ZAR 10 million each).
